Manuel is a Chicago native and DePaul University Theatre School alum (BFA Acting) with 14 years of experience working across storefront and large-scale theater spaces as an artist, educator, and collaborator. His work is grounded in clear communication, spatial awareness, and a practical, efficient approach to design and problem-solving. Manuel’s background began in performance and expanded through hands-on collaboration with designers, technicians, and production teams across carpentry, lighting, sound, rigging, automation, and metal fabrication. He also co-runs a shared workshop with other carpenters that provides a sustainable and financially achievable build space for nonprofit and arts organizations. The shop supports straightforward fabrication, shared resources, and access to tools that are often out of reach for smaller organizations. Teaching and mentorship are a consistent part of Manuel’s practice. He has worked with 6-12th grade students and adult apprentices and values environments where learning is ongoing and collaborative. He approaches projects with openness, accountability, and a team-first mindset, focusing on work that supports community, access, and long-term use.
